All NP Professors
We need to know from ALL PROFS asap what OWL scores they'll accept into their NEWTS level classes. They're allowed to vary from professor to professor, depending on personality, etc. etc.

SO...

If you please.

OWLS ARE:
Pass Grades

  • Outstanding (O)
  • Exceeds Expectations (E)
  • Acceptable (A)

Fail Grades
  • Poor (P)
  • Dreadful (D)
  • Troll (T)

And also, here are the other classes that currently don't have a Played Professor.

Subject: Ancient Runes
OWL Level Required: E
Any Flexibility on these Requirements? Sure

Subject: Care of Magical Creatures
OWL Level Required: E
Any Flexibility on these Requirements? Sure, a bit.

Subject: History of Magic
OWL Level Required: A
Any Flexibility on these Requirements? Nope, it's a PASS requirement.

Subject: Muggle Studies
OWL Level Required: E
Any Flexibility on these Requirements? Sure

POTIONS
[info]np_professor
2007-02-18 05:10 pm UTC (link)
Professor's Name: Professor William (Bill, Billy) MacIntyre
Subject: Potions
OWL Level Required: Acceptable (he's all about encouraging those who suck at something to improve)
Any Flexibility on these Requirements? Not really. If you fail your Potions OWLS, he's not going to let you in. He may give you candies to try and make it up to you, though.

HERBOLOGY

Professor's Name: Gervasius Flave
Subject: Herbology
OWL Level Required: A, O, E
Any Flexibility on these Requirements? Nope. Gerry won't accept any Fail Grades. Too many things explode in her NEWTS level classes.

DIVINATION

2007-02-18 05:11 pm UTC (link)
Professor's Name: Reginald Chandler
Subject: Divination
OWL Level Required: E
Any Flexibility on these Requirements? He really wants his students at this level show real promise in the field. He might let someone that just barely missed getting an E if they showed potential.

ARITHMANCY

2007-02-18 05:11 pm UTC (link)
Professor's Name: Abbie Johansson
Subject: Arithmancy
OWL Level Required: A
Any Flexibility on these Requirements? No. She won't accept failing grades on the OWLs, but as long as they pass, if students want to take NEWTs, they're more than welcome.

Astronomy

2007-02-18 05:20 pm UTC (link)
Professor's Name: Professor Corvus (Sly) Sylvester
Subject: Astronomy
OWL Level Required: E
Any Flexibility on these Requirements? Very unlikely, though he will review requests on a case by case basis. Absolutely no failing grades will be admitted. (Promising purebloods of the proper disposition and excellent persuasive skills might be able to sway him if they've gotten an A).

DADA
[info]merewiper
2007-02-18 08:01 pm UTC (link)
Professor's Name: Callum Archer
Subject: DADA
OWL Level Required: E
Any Flexibility on these Requirements? Students with a good A may enter the NEWT level class on probation. They are required to do extra work and after eight weeks they have to pass a test to be allowed to remain in class. Failing grades will not be accepted.

Transfiguration

2007-03-30 07:01 pm UTC (link)
Professor's Name: Nigel Klyn
Subject: Transfiguration
OWL Level Required: E
Any Flexibility on these Requirements? Possibly, depending on the situation. Nigel's NEWT level work is quite advanced, and requires an above average comprehension of all pre-OWL material.

Charms

2007-12-13 05:22 am UTC (link)
Professor's Name: Kenneth Crone
Subject: Charms
OWL Level Required: A, presuming that students can keep their grades up
Any Flexibility on these Requirements? Nothing short of a passing grade will be accepted. That's just setting kids up to fail and Ken's not about that. He reserves the right to suggest students drop if they go into NEWT with an A and look to be struggling but really, he's all about encouraging anyone who's willing to try.
